Yungblud. Are You Ready Boy?
Not just a title, but a provocation. A question that cuts straight into Yungblud’s new biopic, which was on the big screens for a limited time only. Dominic Harrison, the restless kid from Doncaster, takes Berlin as his stage and lab, opening himself up in a way that feels both chaotic and deeply intimate. What we get is not a glossy rock documentary, but a raw exploration of creativity, struggle and release, stitched together through the birth of his latest album IDOLS.
The background is the iconic Hansa Studios, a place loaded with history where Bowie and U2 once had their own albums produced. For Yungblud, it becomes a space of both inspiration and confrontation. Over the course of eleven live performances, the film unveils the stories, the scars, and the sparks behind each song and each lyric. One moment the band is tearing into a track with unfiltered energy, the next they are sitting shoulder to shoulder over Chinese takeout, trading fortune cookie notes like a group of friends chasing a dream.
In between the music we see Dom wrestle with body image, mental health, the brutality of social media, and the constant pressure of living up to expectations. There are scenes where he is fully unmasked, like when he breaks down in the middle of recording “The Greatest Parade,” calling himself a failure and doubting everything he stands for. It is painful, but it is also real, and when he manages to rise again it feels like a victory that belongs not only to him but to everyone watching.
When the band launches into “Ghost,” Dom leaves the microphone behind and charges through the studio, pulling every soul into the performance until the whole building is clapping along. In moments like these, you can feel what makes him unstoppable, the raw energy that turns a room into a movement. Yet the film also slows down to its most fragile note during “Supermoon.” Dressed in white, eyes away from the camera, he delivers the song as if confessing to himself more than to us, a reminder that beneath the chaos there vulnerability.
Are You Ready Boy? captures Yungblud not as a rock star but as the center of a messy, passionate family bound by music and shared dreams. It is about growth, about stumbling and standing up again, about the way art can burn through darkness and create light. This is not a final statement but a beginning. The bar has been raised, the energy is contagious, and while the tour has just started, the world that Yungblud has built with IDOLS is already fully alive, ready to be played on repeat until the next chapter arrives.
