So close to what deluxe
First-time grammy nominated, Tate McRae just released the deluxe part of her third album, So Close To What. At the end of the last show of her world tour in Los Angeles, Tate announced the deluxe version of her latest album.
3 weeks ago, she revealed the first song of the five brand new, Tit For That. Immediate success for this song about her ex-boyfriend.
The deluxe is starting with Trying on shoes. This song feels so grown-up. The really beginning is a bit cinematic, then the vocals are enlightened by a soft production, that is creating a sort of intimacy. As listeners we can easily feel the hurt she felt with her relationship ending.
With Anything for love, we’re back in the So Close To What vibe. This song is fed with anger and scorn. Second step of the breakup, after the sadness she stepped into the angry phase.
She’s definitely trying new stuffs in this deluxe, Nobody’s girl is introducing new sounds and new vocals. She’s exploring in her songs as much as she’s exploring in her life. Third step of the breakup, finding herself again and healing. This song is the perfect exemple of one of her strengths, writing deep and sad lyrics above an up- tempo melody.
And we’re ending with Horseshoe. This song feels really authentic and vulnerable in her own way. How hard it is to be sad, lonely and to need help when you’re considered as a lucky girl who’s performing in front of thousands of people every nights. With this song she’s going through another phase, nostalgia and regrets.
The deluxe version is ending with the single that we already know, Tit for That. This song is the perfect pop hit to dance and scream on. She’s back in her angry phase, but now she’s healed. She’s just relating facts, this is her last move before moving on in her life.
Those five songs are part of the So Close To What era but at the same time they’re announcing a new era, with new productions, new arrangements and new vocals. This is the perfect bridge between the 21 her-self and the grown-up woman she’ll be in her next album.
