Play Oklou
Oklou has been showing us that experimental music is essential in today’s music scene. The French artist, producer, and songwriter has been redefining contemporary sound with songs that are deeply unique and sensitive, blending classical elements with electronic textures in a way that can completely transform an atmosphere.
She began recording and uploading music online in 2013 and self-released her debut EP Avril in June 2014. She continued creating music and performing at festivals, but her real breakthrough came with her 2020 album Galore, which includes collaborations with Casey MQ, whom she had previously worked with on their collaborative EP For the Beasts in 2017. On Galore, she also collaborated with Sega Bodega, Shygirl, PC Music’s A. G. Cook and EASYFUN, and GRADES. She has also worked with French artist Pomme.
2025 was a big year for her. She released her album Choke Enough, and in October she dropped the song “Viscus” with British avant-pop musician FKA twigs, followed by the announcement of a deluxe edition of Choke Enough. After that, she went on tour supporting Lorde in Europe and announced her U.S. solo tour starting in April.
Her visual creations reflect the same spirit as her melodies, with mystical, slightly retro aesthetics and carefully defined colors and contrasts.
She is definitely an artist to watch. Her music is strikingly original and highlights resilience and vulnerability through deep, immersive melodies that transport listeners to another world. Oklou takes us into a different atmosphere, proving that experimental music is truly the moment.
