Who has not daydreamed, at least once, about being part of a movie? In the movie of my life, the soundtrack would be in the hands of Aidan Bissett.
Born in 2002, the young singer-songwriter with his lyrics manages to communicate to the world the emotions and problems of the new generations. With a guitar in his hands since the second grade, this guy grew up with a lot of 80s sounds and artists that helped him get into the music world. In addition to the guitar, Aidan, as a self-taught player, can also play drums, piano and bass, which he admits to doing quite well on.
His artistic career began incredibly early, during his high school years. In fact, the young artist had already secured a contract with Capitol Records even before graduating. The success, as often happens these days, exploded in 2020 when, for passion, Aidan found himself posting videos of his own songs on the famous TikTok platform.
In fact, he first learned the whole production mechanism before trying his hand at posting videos of himself singing and playing online. The boom in views came during lockdown with the song “More Than Friends,” the third song released after “Different” and “Worst Girl of All the Time.”
The first Ep was released in 2023 and is called “Supernova”. From then on, the young artist does not stop and continues to write while he starts opening tours to various artists such as: Lauv, COIN and Valley. Finally, in 2025, Aidan releases his first album, shut up and love me.
Among the points of reference from which he draws inspiration we can certainly note the Wallows at the beginning of their careers, COIN and the 1975. In fact, we find in his works many sounds that find the right balance between pop and rock. Pop lyrics blend with the indie rock instrumentals. Alternative guitars and electronic elements blend, creating a sound that carries the nostalgic touch our generation cannot seem to live without.
He also narrates the audiobook edition of Lynn Painters' rom com “Fake Skating.” This young artist is full of potential that he is still discovering and shaping.
His catchy sound mixed with authentic songwriting that speaks of early experiences, heartbreak problems, and the difficulties of everyday life in his twenties help the listener empathize with his lyrics, finding comfort and strength to move forward. For this reason, Aidan Bissett is a breath of fresh air in the current indie rock scene, and I cannot wait to hear his future releases—while pretending to be the main character in some rom-com within the walls of my room.
