Meet Tomo Miličević
Some musicians don’t need to be in the spotlight to shape what you hear. Tomo Miličević is one of those people.
Born in Sarajevo and raised in the US, Tomo isn’t just a guitarist, he’s a full-on musician in the most old-school sense: violin, keys, production, even culinary school at one point.
His career really started taking shape in the early 2000s when he founded the band Morphic with friends, a first step into building something of his own before stepping onto a much bigger stage.
But most people know him as the former lead guitarist of Thirty Seconds to Mars, where he played from 2003 to 2018, the years the band went from cult alt-rock energy to global stages. He joined right as the band was stepping into its defining era, and stayed through the albums that shaped its identity. Across records like A Beautiful Lie, This Is War, and Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams, he helped build the sonic architecture that made 30STM feel bigger than rock
Outside of the band, he collaborated with artists like Ivy Levan and Dommin, quietly developing a producer mindset alongside his role as a performer.
In 2018, right after the release of America, Tomo stepped away from the band. Post-30STM, Tomo has stayed intentionally low-profile. Rather than immediately jumping into another high-visibility band situation, he moved into a quieter phase, focusing on:
personal music work and creative exploration
selective collaborations
life outside constant touring cycles
More than anything, it’s been about reconnecting with music on his own terms, less industry pace, more personal rhythm.
But now he’s back, even if just temporarily.
After joining the band for their celebration of the 20th anniversary of ‘A Beautiful Lie’ in Los Angeles last summer, Tomo is rejoining Thirty Seconds to Mars for their European tour in spring 2027, a run built around A Beautiful Lie and This Is War, two albums he helped create.
