5 artists we started listening to after watching Carrie

If there’s one thing a good horror series needs besides an unsettling storyline, it’s a killer soundtrack. And Mike Flanagan’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie understood the assignment.

Released on Prime Video just in time for spooky season, the eight-episode series starring Summer H. Howell brings Carrie White back to our screens.

And while names like Lana Del Rey, Conan Gray and Wolf Alice might already be familiar, the series also introduces us to some seriously exciting musical discoveries. So, obviously, we made a list.

  • Haute & Freddy: If there’s one musical act that deserves a special mention, it’s Haute & Freddy. The alternative pop duo practically became part of Carrie’s DNA, with several songs featured throughout the series. In fact, Mike Flanagan was so inspired by their track “Shy Girl” that he incorporated it into the show’s musical identity.

  • Sofia Isella: Dark, dramatic and just the right amount of disturbing. Sofia Isella has been building a musical universe that feels somewhere between alternative pop, poetry and psychological horror, making her inclusion in Carrie feel almost inevitable. Her music isn’t exactly what you’d put on to relax after a long day, but that’s kind of the point.

  • Katie Garfield: Her atmospheric vocals and emotional songwriting create the kind of soundtrack that can make even the simplest scene feel cinematic. With multiple tracks appearing throughout Carrie, including “Weightless” and “Can Anybody Save Me,” she’s definitely an artist worth exploring beyond the credits.

  • SPELLES: The musical project brings together dramatic production and an almost hypnotic atmosphere, the kind of sound that makes you want to walk through an empty city at night pretending you’re the main character of something mysterious. And honestly, what better place to discover that sound than Carrie?

  • Someone: The musical project of Dutch-British artist Tessa Rose Jackson brings a dreamy, psychedelic edge to alternative pop, mixing delicate vocals with immersive production. “Forget Forgive” appears in the very first episode of Carrie, making Someone one of the first musical discoveries the series throws our way.

And if there’s one thing we love, it’s finding an artist who makes us immediately want to explore their entire discography. Whether you came for Stephen King’s terrifying story, Mike Flanagan’s direction or simply another excuse to embrace spooky season, Carrie has given us something else to obsess over: its music.

And if you find yourself adding half the soundtrack to your playlists after finishing the series, you’re definitely not alone.
