5 musicians who revealed their Hogwarts houses

It’s September 1st, which means while some people are going back to work, back to school or simply accepting that summer is basically over, Potterheads know there’s only one place we should actually be going: back to Hogwarts.
And because here at 55 Magazine we like finding any possible excuse to make music and pop culture collide, we started wondering where some of our favorite musicians would end up once the Sorting Hat got involved.
Turns out, we don’t actually have to guess. From taking the official Pottermore Sorting Ceremony to casually wearing their house colors, some musicians have already made their Hogwarts allegiance very clear.
So grab your robes, get to Platform 9¾ and please try not to miss the train. Here are 5 musicians and their Hogwarts houses.

  • Camila Cabello is a Gryffindor: Camila Cabello has been very open about her love for the Wizarding World, and when it comes to where she’d be sleeping at Hogwarts, the answer is Gryffindor. And honestly, it tracks. Gryffindors are known for being bold, impulsive and willing to throw themselves into something before necessarily figuring out how they’re getting back out, which feels appropriate for someone whose career has involved leaving one of the biggest girl groups in the world and betting on herself as a solo artist.

  • Ariana Grande is a Slytherin: When Draco Malfoy himself, Tom Felton, once guessed that Ariana would be a Gryffindor, she corrected him: the official Sorting Ceremony had already sent her straight to the dungeons. And she has absolutely committed to it since. Ariana has worn Slytherin robes and a green-and-silver Slytherin headband, and even once cited Lucius Malfoy as inspiration for her platinum hair.

  • Liam Payne was a Gryffindor: Liam Payne wasn’t casually into Harry Potter. He was the kind of fan who bought the flying Ford Anglia and put it in his garden. So naturally, he took the official Sorting test too. Pottermore placed the One Direction singer in Gryffindor, although years later he admitted to Tom Felton that, despite the Sorting Hat’s decision, he was a die-hard Slytherin at heart. He also owned an enormous replica of Hagrid’s Hut, collected Harry Potter memorabilia and once revealed that he had even tried to audition for the films.

  • Wisp is a Hufflepuff: The rising shoegaze artist, whose real name is Natalie Lu, has been pretty clear about where she belongs at Hogwarts: Hufflepuff. When asked about her house in an interview with Atwood Magazine, Wisp revealed that she grew up taking the official Sorting test almost every year and kept getting Hufflepuff. Plot twist: when she took it again recently, she got Slytherin. But Wisp wasn’t having it, admitting that despite the new result, she still personally considers herself a Hufflepuff.

  • Tinashe is a Ravenclaw: Tinashe has openly said she’s a big Harry Potter fan, and when asked which Hogwarts house she belongs to, her answer was immediate: Ravenclaw. Her reasoning was even better. According to Tinashe, “Gryffindor’s too basic.”

We’ll see you all in the Great Hall for dinner.
